When I saw your copy of Beowulf it sent me back. We had to read it in senior year of high school. My teacher actually knew the translator, Burton Raffel, and he came to talk to our class. He was in his 70s and I was 17 but I left with a legit crush on the man — he was fascinating! I wish I could remember more of what he said. But I did get him to autograph my copy of the book! 😆
I've been on a George MacDonald kick recently! His novels can be rambly and overly detailed for some, but I have loved the lengthiness and immersing in the old Scotch culture and place.
I am making a list of many of the books you have shared here recently. I need to dust off my library card!

We read The Princess and the Goblin last year. It was beautiful. I haven’t read any of his Scottish novels, but my MIL loves him!
